Walt Disney World® Golf, operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, is pleased to introduce you to our new FiberBuilt driving range practice line at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course.
We have replaced the original Astroturf mats with these new high-quality practice mats, which will be at the rear of the range hitting area. These mats will be used during inclement weather conditions and beginning at 1 pm each day. Prior to 1 pm, the natural grass area of the range will be in use for practice.
The goal of the new FiberBuilt mats is to provide for a realistic practice and pre-round warm up experience for our Guests, while allowing us to enhance the conditions of the natural grass range area through reduced use. The mats are configured for right and left-handed golfers and will feature adjustable tees.
Unlike standard practice mats, which typically have a very hard, relatively thin surface, where you have to alter your swing motion to "pick" the ball off the mat with irons and wedges, the FiberBuilt grass-like material will allow you to actually hit down on the balls and use a normal swing motion. This will reduce hand, arm, shoulder and other body trauma. Speaking as one who actually experienced repetitive stress rib injuries back in the 1990's, as a result of the need to frequently use regular, hard, practice mats that were placed on top of concrete paths, I fully empathize with those who dread hitting off mats. These new mats will undoubtedly change your perception.
