Walt Disney World® Golf History – The PGA Seniors’ Championships 1975 - 1979
When it comes to the history of professional golf here at Walt Disney World® Golf, you would probably immediately think of the PGA Tour and the Walt Disney World Golf Classic, which we proudly hosted from 1971 – 2012.
What you may not be aware of is that we have also hosted a variety of other professional tour events, including the LPGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions Qualifying Schools, as well as U.S. Open regional qualifying events over the years.
From 1975 to 1979, we also hosted the PGA Seniors’ Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course. The event, now known as the Senior PGA Championships, is open to professional golfers 50 years of age and older, just as is the case with the events on the PGA Tour Champions, formerly known as the Senior PGA Tour.
The history of professional golf here at Walt Disney World® Golf is a rich and diverse one that we are deeply proud of and we hope that you enjoy this brief glimpse into our past.
We look forward to welcoming you to the "Happiest Place on TURF!"
